This is a perfect exemple of the greyed shadows of my paintings. Because they were to be on a table cloth, I did not want them to be rough or textured looking so I used soft looking pigments. I first painted the movement and lace of the cloth.
Look at the subtil reflections of pink, gold and blue of the flowers on the cloth. They render the softness of the flowers. I created those soft greys to be luminous and soft.
The shadows are speckled with light holes created by the woven basket.
